Refactor plugins_pre_chat_message_display for Memory Management

Refactor function to enhance memory handling, addressing
temporary workaround introduced in 2e0adbd. Adjustments
ensure cleaner code and maintainability.

Part of the improvements suggested by @sjaeckel.
