3f03de031c Re-factor into separate compression module 
Introduce a `conn_interface` to simplify the decision logic which API
we must call.

This also fixes some bugs of the previous commit.

6881a2e770 add option to use clock_gettime() in perf example 
This is done to support architectures where `rdtsc()` is not implemented.
In case it is available use `clock_gettime()`. Otherwise still fall back
to use `clock()`.

The first approach was to always use `clock_gettime()` if it is available
but the overhead it brings compared to `rdtsc()` is high, so I chose to
only try to use it if `rdtsc()` is not implemented.

3a3b4faa10 use getrandom() on recent linux distros 
Instead of using the internal DRBG-based RNG, use the `getrandom()` system
call where available.
Keep the existing version as fall-back for other systems that don't provide
that system call.

... and for cases where auto-detection fails or the user simply wants to
use the internal RNG a new configure-switch is provided.

4d93b6c0d6 Check for va_copy declaration 
ctx.c contains a workaround for systems without va_copy() support.
Improve this workaround in the way which is described in the autoconf
manual.

Also check for va_copy declaration in configure time.

Fixes #160.

198bdd77d0 Remove -Wno-unused-parameter 
Introduced UNUSED macro with cast to void in commoh.h for internal
use. Used cast to void directly in those files which do not
include common.h. Although this change doesn't fix semantic issues
with unused function parameters, it does explicitly mark all those
places, which might require attention in future.

b2e6458736 autotools: check for snprintf and vsnprintf 
src/snprinf.[ch] rely on HAVE_SNPRINTF macro. The check is missed in
configure script and libstrophe always use internal implementation
of snprinf() which may be inefficient. Add check to configure.ac.

3b55c20879 Fix --without-libxml2 
The arguments of AC_ARG_WITH are (package, help-string, [action-if-given], [action-if-not-given]).
  action-if-given takes effect when the flag is given in **either** form (--with or --without).
  The proper code for action-if-given would thus be with_libxml2=$withval, which is already the default.
  Thus leaving this argument empty is the proper course of action.
